So the question we are asked more than any other is about when to replace your stylus. Everyone has a theory on this, but the best way is to take in a number of factors and decide for yourself. Here are the criteria: condition of your records, hours of play, amount of scratching/cueing/backspins and most importantly, how well you set up your balance weight and aligned your cartridge. Look for a loss of high frequencies and mis-matched left/right channel levels for a sure sign you need to replace your stylus.
