INTRODUCTION:
Welcome
to our FAQ and HOW TO section. This section
describes common questions, How To's, and problems
associated with the Technics SL1200/1210 MK2
and MK3 turntables. We tried to cover
the most basic situations that people have trouble
with, as well as the PROPER way (as instructed
by the manufacturer) to dissamble your unit.
Please read the various WARNINGS and NOTICES throughout this section, as they inform you
of common errors committed by just about everyone. REMEMBER, if you do not know what you are
doing, DON'T DO IT!

PRECAUTIONS
& WARNINGS:
Before we begin with the FAQ section of this
site, and before we even begin taking apart
the MK2 turntable, we want to make sure you
know what your doing, or at least have some
idea or concept of what you are about to do.
If you mess this up, please do not blame us
(READ DISCLAIMER). If you find you do
not know what you are doing, DON'T DO IT! Once again, please contact an Authorized
Service Technician in your area.
NEVER
attempt repairs yourself under the following:
- If
the power cord or plug is damaged
- If
a foreign object or liquid falls into the
unit
- If
the unit does not function normally, or if
operation shows an unusual change
- If
the unit has been dropped and the cabinet
or chassis is damaged
UNPLUG
the power cord and consult with an authorized
repair technician for any problems.
We also have available the official Service
Manual from Technics/Panasonic which
the repair technician use. If you
purchased your unit through this site, you
are covered by our service warranty for
Three Full Years on Labor only, and One
Full Year on Parts & Labor
This
FAQ covers the simple and most common questions,
and problems associated with the SL12X0
MKX & MXD
Series turntable. If you decide to go
any further, we assume NO LIABILITY for any damage.
DISASSEMBLY
INSTRUCTIONS:
CAUTION: NEVER connect the AC power plug during disassembly.
Ensure before connecting AC power and turning
on the unit, that ALL parts are connected and
assembled as if for normal operation, including
the replacement of the Turntable platter.
Shortage of the electrical system may occur
if any part(s) is/are missing during operation
or "testing" phases. Including
the Turntable platter.
NOTE:
Please follow these safety guidelines on "How
To Remove..." as instructed by the manufacturers
in the Service Manual:
How
to remove the panel cover:
- Remove
head shell and turntable
- Secure
arm with arm-clamp
- Remove
5 screws "A" of the panel
cover as shown in Fig. 1

to remove bottom assembly:
- Remove
4 audio insulators/feet (Counterclockwise
rotation)
- Remove
17 screws and spacer "I" as
shown in Fig. 2
